glenncombs Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 I have had to reinstall a new OEM Operating system on a new hard drive in my PC because my old drive had bad sectors and corrupt Win XP (Home) files. I did this with no problems. But now, when I start up Outlook Express on the essentially new PC, the spell checking button is not accessible for e-mails. I have had to copy and paste the text into my word processor and back again into Outlook Express e-mail screen to do spell checking.I'm not sure where Outlook Express gets its spell checking. I use Corel Office Suite (8 and 10) for word processing.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Glenn

glenncombs Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 Krakatu,Thanks so much. You put me onto the solution to the problem with spell checking being unavailable in Outlook Express. Once I realized that it only works when Microsoft word processor type products are installed on the PC, it reminded me that I had not reinstalled MS Works on the PC. I found my CD and installed it and the spell checker in Outlook Express became available again. This solution didn't occur to me, because I use Corel Office Suite and not MS Word, etc. Thanks again for your help.Glenn
atomizer Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 welcome to MS...sure, we'll allow you to spell check in the free OE software... as soon as YOU BUY office there's plenty of other alternatives for spell checking in OE, WITHOUT installing office. i'll be happy to help should you so desire.
