I use O&O, but I noticed in Task Manager the process: oodag.exe taking up ~4mb of ram and I don't have any background scanning scheduled or anything. I only want to use it manually.

Does perfect disk also have something run in the background?

I hardly ever defrag (I just reformat :D) so is there something lighter (in terms of process etc.) that does also a good job?

I have tested this, and tried to set the process to MANUAL, not even disabled, and it still asks you to manualy start it.

On the other hand you can set the PerfectDisk process to manual and the program starts it first time it's ran.

I tested PD today ( was using O&O ), got a bit disappointed, I have to manualy set the number of days so the program knows what's new and what's old, which can be a good thing. And the only option is to defrag based on that, unlike OO .. Maybe I got it all wrong and didn't see some SPECIAL menu there ?

you stole my idea about opening a new Poll for the best defrag proggy! :P:) lol

thnx for the post,
