August 23, 200521 yr Hi , i've got a question about an install (i'm very new to this stuff) :I want to run setup from runonceex but i want it to install in the default program files-folder.with nlite you can specify a default program-files folder and i want that to be on - let's say - my D: (and C: would be my system drive)i found this on the winrar site :To change install directory:----------------------------If you want to install WinRAR for example into C:AppsWinRAR andnot into C:Program FilesWinRAR.Using WinRAR 3.10 beta 1 - beta 4, you may add the followingstrings to the end of settings.reg:[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareWinRAR SFX]"C%%Program Files%WinRAR"="C:AppsWinRAR"and import settings.reg before running 'wrar310.exe /s'regedit /s settings.reg.but i want to keep it "universal" and not point winrar to a specific drive (because that may change/not be the same for everyone).so is it possible to let winrar install in the "default prog.files folder" (whatever drive that might be on) (configured with nlite). Is this possible with other programs?like : adobe reader, office ,nerothanks a lot!
August 23, 200521 yr i think winrar's sfx installer (or any professional installer) isnt hardcoded to "c:\program files" rather it looks in the registry for the path to "program files" so if you change it with nlite to "c:\pf" or "d:\pf" it will not matter. anyways, just try it out on a virtual pc Edited August 23, 200521 yr by coconut
August 24, 200521 yr By the way, the %PROGRAMFILES% variable also contains the whole path to your Prog-Directory, so it's drive independent.
