SUS patches not applying correctly

Featured Replies

Howdy,

I'm having a problem with certain users on our domain. We have a server running Software Update Service, and it has worked well for about 6 months now. Recently we have had users that never seem to get the updates that SUS is handing out. The updates do actually appear, and the user is prompted to install them, but in most cases they fail, but still require a reboot. In other less common cases the updates are successfully installed (at least according to the notifications) but as soon as the user reboots the little globe reappears and they're forced to go through the whole ordeal again. One of the patches that fails is KB896423 (patch for Print Spooler Service exploit). Another patch which "successfully" installs (and then reappears seconds later) is KB832483 (Patch for MDAC exploit). If anyone has encountered this problem, please shed some light on this for me, I've been all over Microsoft's site and I'm running out of resources. Thanks,
