Wai_Wai Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 (edited) Compatibility issues among different security productsYou know, conflicts and incompatibility are something which can be hidden but hampening our operating system. So if you have understandings on security products, would you mind answering me the following questions:Will the following situaitions create possible conflicts and incompatibility (no matter noticeable or not):Two or more running anti-virus(AV) programsTwo or more running anti-trojans(AT) programsTwo or more running anti-keylogger(AK) programsTwo or more running firewallTwo or more running Anti-spyware(AS) programs (real-time enabled)Two or more running intrusion prevention programs (eg ProcessGuard, Viguard, System Safety Monitor)Tell me generally why if possible. Now it's going to be more complex. Will this following combination create possible conflicts and incompatibility (no matter noticeable or not):- combination of AV, AT &/or AK programs- combination of AV & AS (both real-time protection on)- combination of the above 2Tell me generally why if possible. Thanks so much for your help. techniquefreak Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Well, I can answer part of the A/V-A/V question: Yes - it's possible to run have 2 A/V's at once - just make the one run residentially - like norton, mcafee, trend, kaspersky, eset or whatever and the second run on-demand - a decent one for this could be Bitdefender Free for instance. You can also just fine run A/S with A/V. I currently run Norton Internet security 2006 (beta testing it, of course) with M$ Anti Spyware on one of my machines and on an other I run Norman Virus Protection with M$ A/S - works as expected :-)Hope this gives you part of the ideaGreetingsJacob
