tarquel Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Just to see what happens, try the following link:http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/and follow those steps if u havent already.Just a thought,Nath

ner Posted August 16, 2005 Author Posted August 16, 2005 @it_ybdThanks for the info, but no did not work!....
Gouki Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 From what ive read, the problem here is not WGA. If it is, let us know ...A problem related to Catalogs can be something missing where it indicates what needs to be installed.Have you removed anything with nLite? If you did, attach you last session.Where you able to install updates with that current XP installation before?Cya buddy!
ner Posted August 16, 2005 Author Posted August 16, 2005 @GoukiYes i have installed updates for the last 18 months with no issues, problem only happed this month, installed my may ghost image, and then updates started to install 1 - 12 ok then 13 - 15 failed....
Gouki Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 (edited) Well, I dont think it can be because of the CAT limit. However, from what you have said, why dont you make a new UA XP CD with RyanVM lastest pack (1.2.2b) slipstreamed and thn just download the updates from July and August. If you dont to use RyanVM pack, just use Astalavista pack. It is completly updated. Just go to the link on my sig. Edited August 16, 2005 by Gouki

surcix Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 (edited) i had the same problem. i've solved it ( it worked for me ). in my system32/catroot folder i have 2 other folders named { a long code } and { another long code }. in the second folder i have a "TimeStamp" file with no extension. if i delete it, the error u mentioned appears, if the file is there, i can install the updates. be shore that in any {....} folder u have the timestamp file. if not , i'll send u mineand another thing: try to delete some KBXXXXXX.cat files from the system32/CatRoot. it may be becouse u passed the limit of the 150 cat files Edited August 17, 2005 by surcix

I can't install the last 3 hotfixes for Microsoft Office XP on my recently finished windows install. I have tried deleting some of the cat files but it still doesn't work, they always fail to install. This is with ryanvm 1.3.0 beta pack and all addons installed.
