help needed with choosing cpu and mobo

ok i have a somewhat old 2.4ghz intel p4 with an msi stripped out 875 mobo and 1gb ddr400 .. i just got my hand on a free trade for my msi x800 pro .. i am getting an x850 xt biggrin.gif .. i actually just got it in my hand .. the person i traded it with knows very well that it is very slower then x850 .. he didnt want me to even pay the diffrence .. he just wanted an agp card since he doesn have pcixpress .. now i "need" a pcixpress mobo .. i was thinking something amd64 with an nforce4 mobo maybe? .. ok this might sound like a stupid question but will it make a diffrence if i got a nforce4 equipped with my x850? will it matter at all? which cpu and mobo would u recommend .. considering my budget is around 500 dollars .. iam getting it tonight from my friendly neighborhood hardware salesman .. smile.gif .. apperciate the help

p.s. i know i wont be able to afford it but will it make any diffrence to buy a 10k rpm harddisk ? .. i got two sata 120gb maxtors .. thanks again

the x850 will run fine on it

a 10k hdd, like the raptor, will make a difference but its not worth the money

now if u want to overclock then u can get an xp-90 and a panaflo 92mm fan, that will bring u around 500$

thanks man .. i dont think i will find them at these prices here .. hopefully i will get something with 1mb l2 cache .. with a reasonable price

If you run those two 120GB maxtors in RAID 0 they should be faster in most cases than a single 10K raptor.

Ill also second the dfi nf4 ultra-d that ripken204 recommended.
