gamehead200 Posted February 11, 2003 Share Posted February 11, 2003 Dunno what section this should go in, so here we go...In some of my folders on my webserver, when I'm doing a directory listing (like www.mysite.com/images) to a folder that only has images, I find a file called "Thumbs.db"...What is this file and how can I get rid of it? Aaron Posted February 11, 2003 Share Posted February 11, 2003 its a hidden file in every folder. afaik, it keeps the folder settings in there, for example the View by icons/list/details/large etc so Windows Explorer can open your folder at the settings you specified. SupaFly-TNT Posted February 13, 2003 Share Posted February 13, 2003 Thumbs.db is a useless file if it's in a webserver images directory. It is simply used for a cache for your images so that when you open a folder in explorer you can see a mini thumbnail of the image. It doesn't store any vital information however. Removing this is quite easy also, all ya need to do is go into any open folder and select TOOLS/Folder Options/View tab/ then turn off or rather click "Do not cache thumbnails".
