Takeshi
There're two copies of taskman.exe, in WINDOWS and system32 directories.I tried running them from Run, cmd or direct clicking but nothing happens. Taskmgr.exe works normally. No virus found by F-Secure.What do they both do?http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...mb_tol_aubc.asp
Takeshi
I've tried it on other XP systems with the same result.Other threads say it's safe to remove.Anyone know what it actually does?
bilemke
taskman.exe should exist under C:\windows and C:\windows\system32However.. Make sure under c:\windows\system32 you also have taskmgr.exe. It is the actual exe that runs and shows you the running processes. If you dont have it.. Runsfc /scannowto kick in System File Check and see if it adds it back for you. Edited August 2, 2005 by bilemke
rjz
1 might be a virus. Check your run areas in safemode using regedit.
