why is windows xp blocking ports between 2 pc's?

what ports are being blocked and where are they blocked

ports for winmx: 6699:tcp 6257:udp

ports for torrents: 10000 - 60000:udp

my bro pc use's windows xp pro sp2, we are using a network hub.

how was it determined that Windows was blocking it.

also aren't those connections NOT between you and your brothers computer but between you and the rest of the P2P network?

Can your brother connect but you can't or the other way around or can you both not connect?

Are you running any firewalls?

i don't know how to determine that windows is blocking it. it might be windows blocking it ;) .

yes the ones are:

my bro pc: windows firewall sp2.

and i am using kerio personal firewall.

It sounds to me like your router for your internet connection is the problem. Most P2P programs require ports to be forwarded to a pc. if they are forwarded to your brothers then yours wont connect..

Check your router and see if the ports are forwarded...
