aspenjim Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 (edited) i have a customers laptop that used to connect to a "preferred" wireless ap automatically, but doesn't anymore. they are using wpa for security. i've seen this before, but never figured out how to fix it. all of the settings are right (i compared to 2 identical others. its a linksys g notebook card and a linksys g router. i think there must be a reg setting to fix it. any ideas?thxaj Edited July 26, 2005 by aspenjim
jcarle Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Go to Network Connections.Right-Click on your wireless connection and choose Properties.Click on the Wireless Networks tab.Click on the connection that you would like to automatically connect to and click on Properties.Click on the Connection tab.Put a checkmark next to "Connect when this network is in range"Additionally, you can also move the connection up the list and put it at the top.
Takeshi Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 The preferred WAP is not connected if it's not in range or if there's a problem with connecting to it.It can be a problem for some wireless network if SSID broadcast is disabled. The key renewal interval might also be a factor.
