I went from a 45 sec boot to a 15 sec, doing a few simple things: some you might try and some are rather obvious.

1. first I went into me BIOS and tapped into the quick boot reference. that knocked off about 5 secs.

2. Then I went into msconfig using the run command on the startup menu, and got rid of everything that cranks up on the start up. Everything but the system crap that has to be there. I now have about 2 icons in the taskbar area. That killed off about 10 seconds.

3. Then I went into tweak UI and disabled showing the administrator on login, which bumped off another 10 seconds, because I no longer have to insert a password, and the choice menu for the login.

4. Lastly I used Norton system works to optimize the registry, did a defrag of the HDD, and a few other system tweaks.

These are some of the regular type things I did to improve my boot time.

Big Booger
