Really appreciate it.EDIT: When the "Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM" appears, it says: "1.FD 1.44 MB System Type-(19)" And after that "NTLDR is missing". Edited July 18, 2005 by Marthax
svasutin Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 when you get your system back:D:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdconswhere d is the drive letter holding your slip xp cd
svasutin Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 1 sector on a Cd is 2048 bytesMy boot.ini is 211 bytes so that's 1 sectorMy ntdetect.com is 47564 bytes so that's 24 sectorsntldr is 250048 bytes so 123 sectorsSelect no emulation and use 148 sectors? That doesn't sound right.I did this one time with Win2k (which has a different ntldr and ntdetect files).
svasutin Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 (edited) let me check into nero's help file[edit] I'm still looking, about to burn my own Edited July 18, 2005 by svasutin
Marthax Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 (edited) Alright, take your time. I appreciate it, once again.I also tried to replacing the scsi settings in boot.ini with multi, as you stated before, but that didn't work. scsi is the way to go in this situation.EDIT: 148 is impossible. The range is 1 - 128. Edited July 18, 2005 by Marthax
svasutin Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 My original boot img for my pc didn't work, but I just remembered I'm booting off part(3) on this system. Will be back
Marthax Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 (edited) Svasutin, if it's too much to do, I could just reinstall windows. I mean, I don't wanna be a pain in the a** for your sake. You've given me so much help already. Edited July 18, 2005 by Marthax
svasutin Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Thank you, but help would only be if I actually got your system running. You could, if you had another ntfs system, connect up your drive as a slave, and then copy fresh ntldr and create a new boot.ini file.I think I need to create the XP floppies, and then burn them to a CD, and then image. In three tests so far, I can't seem to get my system to boot from the CD Oh well, we tried.
Marthax Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 Yeah, and I appreciate it alot. Thank you for your help & time!
svasutin Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I'm pretty sure the problem is in my sector size....Did you try just creating a regular CD with the files?I suppose, when I go to reformat in 18 days, I'm going to first delete the ntldr file and try a few CDs.Track this topic, as this is something I should have anyway.
Marthax Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 Yes, I tried and it didn't work.I'll sure track this topic so that I know how to fix this kind of problems in the future.
interminded Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Well, I'm gonna track this topic also !Gotten quite curious how to handle this sh***y problem ...This can happen to every one of us.. Good luck with the re-install Marthax !
Marthax Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 (edited) Well, I'll try to be as short as I can as I re-tell the whole story on how I fixed it. I started out by creating the XPCDSP2 with slipstreamed SATA drivers. That didn't work as it gave me a message saying that some of my setup files were corrupt :blink (I redid this once again and got the same message) so I gave up on that part. I thought that it was all lost and that I would be forced to format with my UAXPCD and loose all my info on my SATA HDD, but then I remembered that I had a IDE HDD inside my computer for backups which I could use for temporary Windows installation!. So, I installed Windows on it and booted into Windows, installed the SATA drivers and I was back on track. I did a backup of all stuff and formatted the HDD with my almost finished UACD. That's all folks. It was a hell of a fight, but I finally made it. It's funny, how you can wake up one day and suddenly, your computer refuses to boot. I guess that it has tought me a lesson, always backup all your work! Edited July 18, 2005 by Marthax
