changing default router password

Featured Replies

i hav a wgr614 router. i just downloaded the firmware and wanted to change the default password and username from admin and password to something else. is it possible thru hex edit or anything? i tried to see if it existed in the firmware file, but it didnt.

you have to go into the interface and change it there, although I think you have to leave the default user and you can only change the password.

That is as far as I know, but if there is another way, I willing to learn.

for my after i log in to the router there is an option to change the password, no user name change

indeed - all the routers I've seen have the option to change it in the web management system bit of the routers config, so it's bound to be there somewhere :)

Ta,

Nath.

you can also re name your wireless network and then disable your ssid

With your wi-fi client, set it to log onto your ssid name. This way you're not broadcasting your open network to everyone.

whoops - forgot to mention that lol

nice one svasutin

:)
