ThA_FiLeR Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 I have 4 hard drives in my computer and was wondering if it would be faster if I put the pagefile on a different drive that is ATA66 instead of the ATA133(windows installation) I was wondering which is faster, when you think about it, the pagefile gets written and read off of so maybe it will be faster ona a standalone harddrive...Anyone?
speedz Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Off topic, but are you doing the hardware mod to the 9500 that's coming or using Soft9700. What do you figure are the chances of it working?
ThA_FiLeR Posted January 26, 2003 Author Posted January 26, 2003 yes, It's arriving on wednesday, really hoping for a working one. I got my softmod and everything ready EDIT:Oh, I heard the chances are 60-70%...
Tinker Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 It has been recommended that the page file not be on the C: drive (or where the OS is located). Also to split the page file up among hard drives. DO NOT split the page file up on different partitions on the same hard drive.I just read about this yesterday. However I am not able to find the url right now, when I do I will post it........
ThA_FiLeR Posted January 26, 2003 Author Posted January 26, 2003 so when I would locate it on 2 different drives, C(windows) and my other physical hard drive.. will it use 1st the C drive then the next one or will it use both at the same time?
Tinker Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 I believe that it would use both at the same time. I just have one hard drive with 4 partitions, I place the page file on a partition that does not have the OS on it. If you only have 2 hard drives I would first try the drive without the OS.
ThA_FiLeR Posted January 26, 2003 Author Posted January 26, 2003 I have 3 physical drives and the one with the OS on it is ATA133 and all my others are ATA66 so I guess I'll use all 3 of em with 500-1000MB setting.. thanks for your help...
