How do,

Whenever i put a gaphics card into my PCI slot i ge the following errors:

When the computer boots up, i get the message hckmodule not responding, then igfx tray module not responding.

After clicking dont send, dont send everything is fine.

Untill i right click on the desk top:

now it says windows explorer is not responding, i click dont sent,

then it says Dr Watson Debug not responding. I click dont send and the computer crashes.

The graphics card im running is brand new (ie bought today) and the drivers are new. I had the same problem with my previous graphics card, a Geforce FX5200.

Anyhelp wouple be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Is there an onboard or AGP graphics card in the machine?

If so, try removing the AGP card first or disable the onboard card.

Another thing. Try starting Windows in Safe mode or VGA mode to see if the same problem occurs.

No theres no AGP cards in there, not even an on board one.

Ive only got PCI slots.

Ive heard it could be something to do with service pack 2

Any ideas??

Also, how do i restart my computer in safe mode or vga mode and what should i do if it works?

cheers

Try hitting F8 when booting your machine. A menu should pop up and you can select safe mode VGA. It could be F6, I don't remember.

Have you tried a different PCI card?

Posted

Yeah i have tried other PCI cards and have the same problem.

Thing is with restarting in safe mode, the monitor doesnt actually display anything (its just black) untill the log on screen shows. Therefore if i press F8 i cant see what is being displayed.
