XP Networking problem

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I gots a problem..

I installed Windows XP SP2, everything works fine, but...

If i run:

start -> run -> \\pcname

it opens the networked pc fine, but if i open a shared folder on the pc, the window just dissappears...

The same thing happens if i go through windows explorer -> my network places (the window dissappears when i open a shared folder on the pc, but i can view what shares there are fine).

Any ideas?

Thanks

I think its service pack 2 because i had the same problem and i just thought, "what did i install last? ohh sp2" so i uninstalled it and it worked fine.

most likely spyware. could you run HijackThis and post a log to a pastebin?

Nothing unusual in your log file.

Check if you have a hotfix called KB885250 it's know to give problems with XP file sharing (on the remote unit)

Also what OS do you run on the server PC?
