LAN Transfer Tool

Me and my cousin have a router and we're on LAN of course.

We usually send each other small files (pictures, exe files,...) over SKYPE.

But is there a tool to get BIGGGGG files from one computer to another with high speed rate (--Skype max 5kb/s-- SAD BUT TRUE --).

I often take my HDD out of my box and take it to my cousin but it would be very good to have a tool that could send big files over Router to my cousin.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:hello:

Just share a folder on your machine and link to it using the other machine, or map a network drive.

Also look up setting up a simple network on google, this will probably help you a lot. :)

Hi,

i think the main problem the OP has is that they are both behind a NAT Router and want to share files in a easy way.

i would recommend that both of you set up a local ftp server (maybe the one supplied with IIS or WarFTP) - and then map your internal ports on the router to the outside. So you and your Cousin are able to ftp to each other's machine.

A other solution would be if you map your windows file service ports (135,139) on your router to your local pc and your cousin too. then you could use "net use" to map network drives from each others computer. If you do not own a static IP also consider using a DNS Service like dyndns or exchange your current IP's via Skype.

Bye, Egon
