disable startmenu

hi can anyone help me disable my startmenu, ctrl+alt+del and ctrl+esc? im using windows 2000 SP4 thanks

you can render it totally useless by removing folders and going through group policy (domain) or gpedit.msc localy. (cant do it for home or 98) The start button will still show up but you can remove all items. The only way I can think of that you can completely render it useless it to either hack the explorer shell or write an app to load instead of explorer.exe

You could try to use like say LiteStep(does that work on 2k?) and customize your own. ....

if i understand you correctly, you want to lock down the system.

but even if you succeed, one could still access the explorer through "windowskey+e"

Using group policy though you can also hide all drives in My Computer and you can also disable the ability to browse to a path on the hard drive... or even on the network.. So even if they could get to windows Explorer... they wouldnt get much farther.

start -> run -> gpedit.msc -> User Configuration -> Administrative Templates-> Windows Componenst -> Windows Explorer

or

User Configuration -> Administrative Templates-> Windows Componenst -> Start Menu and TaskBar

Just Start Playing with those..

BE AWARE THOUGH.... if you change this locally (using gpedit.msc) this will affect the administrator also. I recommend doing this through a domain policy.

Thnks guys for the reply.. i know gpedit ive played with it.. i just dont know how to disable the the questions ive ask above.. ive done this is VB but only to hide the start menu disable the ctrl+alt+del but only in winxp, anyways thanks guys ur so kind.. if you cud give me links i wud appreciate it

Ctrl+Alt+Del is hardcoded into winlogon.exe. To disable it, you'll have to get an alternative, such as minlogon. Search the web for more information.

hi thanks for the hint.. the link you gave me gives me errors on explorer.exe, i think this ws not the code for it..
