el_rob3 Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 hi guys, i have a network to share files ,printer and internet.i have 16-port switch connect 14 PCs,router and another 16-port swich.the second connect 10 PCs and two switches 8-port with other PCs.My network was very good until the second 8-port switch installation.now my network is good in file transfer, internet connection(TCP/IP) BUT in the browsing it is very bad.we cannot browse the other PCs. we try to use "net view" command or "Find Computer" to find and browse the PCs but it was failed.the max. cable distance btween switch and PC is 140M.what can i do to browse my network well again??
egrath Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Hi,the maximum length of a 100 MBit Ethernet connection should be 100M between NIC and Switch.Maybe this is your problem? Does your switch has a managment port? if so, try to find out if there are problems with the packets he sends (eg. collisions, frame errors).Bye, Egon
el_rob3 Posted June 26, 2005 Author Posted June 26, 2005 thnxx ror replyingthe connection is very good for that length 140M and its depend on the type of cable.about the managment port is it like serial port(com)?now iam think about it is virus in XP client?
rendrag Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 management port generally is a serial connection, but may use some proprietary com cable that would have been provided with the switch. If you take the newest switch away, does everything go back to "normal"?
el_rob3 Posted July 2, 2005 Author Posted July 2, 2005 (edited) OK guys, finally, i found the solution of that. when unplugged one client (XP OS) the browse is OK as well as it was but when plug this client its very bad.is it viruse on XP only? Edited July 2, 2005 by el_rob3
rendrag Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 could do a virus scan and find out... could be spyware as well, but more likely a virus trying to spread across your network it would seem to me
el_rob3 Posted August 10, 2005 Author Posted August 10, 2005 ok guys, now any one have inforomation about that hell.the scan with antivirus was done with norton and mcafee and spy ware scan with spy cleaner gold and winXP was changed but the problem is still in my PC. i can't use win XP now to safe my Network.HELP !!
chilifrei64 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 you can try these settingshttp://winguides.com/registry/display.php/913/this won't "Get rid of them" it just removes the default folders that Windows puts in.
