I am wondering how to get java plugin working for opera browser? I always have to use IE for webpages with java and quicktime plugins required. I use the older m$ java, not the later sun java.

Also, adblock was a nice thing in firefox and IE addon browsers. What do you opera fans use to do adblocking? Hosts file is the most I have right now.

I use the most recen java platform from Sun with IE and opera and it works fine. For the add blocking... good question... I have 7.54 installed and never got any problem with that. Thought there was an integrated add blocker. For IE I use google toolbar though.

there is no java plugin u simply make sure u have the new sun java runtime environment installed .u shouldnt really use the old MS Java anyway as its no longer supported since microsoft got screwed over and sued by Sun.

With regards to adblocking i found that the adblocker in Agnitum Outpost Firewall to be very effective aswell as it also being a very good firewall.apart from that i dont know of any good ones as its not a big deal to me.

I've been using a little addon for extra adblocking ability.

It's small and fast and does the trick quite well. The C++ version is probably your best bet (C++ > Python, anything...).

As for Java, the JRE is all you need. As long as you got the Opera installer that didn't exclude Java, you should be fine.

Once I've installed m$ java, opera seems to not know how to deal with the java extension still.

@Zxian

Thanks for opera adblock information! I am trying it out now.

Why do you have MS Java installed? Use the Sun Java installer instead. The MS Java is no longer supported by anyone due to legal rights.
