Everytime I put a floppy disk in my disk drive, open up Word Processor and open a document it takes ages although most of the time it does open the document eventually.

I suppose that's a problem but the even bigger problem/annoyance is that when I restart my computer when I have used the Floppy Disk and opened a Word Processing document from it, the drive makes an horrendous loud jamming noise. If I never use the Floppy disk drive and restart my computer it doesn't do it.

I did get a floppy disk stuck in it but I managed to pull it out (perhaps it did some damage to the internal drive mechanism thing?)

Any ideas? :(

maybe you did damage it, but considering floppy is usually first device to boot, and floppy boot disks seem to really get involved when booting, the problem you have sounds like normal operation. go into bios and turn off floppy boot seek or similar named option, set floppy to the last boot device. that should help.
