June 17, 200521 yr Hi, I'm having a very strange problem with my keyboard, that is not hardware related cause I tested every key and it's working... The thing is that I lost the @ and the #. Usually, alt car is used to provide more caracters on the keyboard. Starting from left to right \ _ _ _ _ _ ¬ ¦ ² ³ _ ½ ¾. The _ are the keys that are not working anymore with alt car, but they work perfectly cause I can write 1 2 3 4 5 and 0, and with shift, everything is alright | ! " / $ % ? & * ( ) _ +So what's wrong? Having to copy-paste @ each and everytime is quickly getting annoying so hope to have a solution soon. Thanks Edited June 18, 200521 yr by Thauzar
June 18, 200521 yr Have u checked what keyboard layout is selected?Go to:Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages (TAB) > Details (Button)Hope this helps!
June 18, 200521 yr Author I wouldn't have posted here if it was that easy but thanks anyway My langage setting has not change, only the 1 2 3 4 5 and 0 keys dont work anymore with alt car, while all other keys are working just as described in detail in the 1st post.
June 19, 200521 yr Replace your keyboard with a known good one.A key which, let's say, works fine with and without the SHIFT keyis no proof that a problem with that key in combinationwith the ALT/ALT GR is NOT hardware related - even ifthe ALT/ALT GR key works fine in combination with other keys.BTW: Which operating system are you using?Which type of keyboard (serial, PS/2, USB) are you using?
