noctro Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 There are many good drive sims like NFSU that may support multi-playerbut require connection to their game server.I am looking for ones that allows you to connect to your friends via IP or allowsyou to host your own server and have other people connect to you. I know gameslike Age of Empires have that option, but I don't know any drive sims that doesthe same.If anyone knows of any please let me know! Thanks. B)
EchoNoise Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Uhm.. You can host your own LAN using NFSU2...Just setup your gateway through TCP/IP settings to your IP address... and then setup your server... then to get other computers connected to that server, they have to put in your IP address in the gateway field
RayOK Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Check out Live for Speed. PC racing sim that can do all that and much better when S2 is released.
noctro Posted June 17, 2005 Author Posted June 17, 2005 (edited) Uhm.. You can host your own LAN using NFSU2...Just setup your gateway through TCP/IP settings to your IP address... and then setup your server... then to get other computers connected to that server, they have to put in your IP address in the gateway field <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Is there a guide somewhere online to teach you to do that? because there are manygames that supports LAN only.. so this method may work. I am a network dummyand have no idea how this could be done.I have only the original NFSU.Live For Speed looks great, I think I may have tried the demo before..What is "S2" ?? ripken204 Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 pretty much every single game i have ever played allows u to play over a local lan if the game allows online play, like it was said before u need to use tci/ip, to do this1. open network connections, right click ur connection, clik properties2. click install, click protocol, and install microsoft tcp/ip version 6that sets up windows to allow u to do local games, now all u have to do in the game is select to play it either through local or tcp/ip
noctro Posted June 17, 2005 Author Posted June 17, 2005 I know most games support local lan.. say if your home has 3 or 4 PCs. But theother PC other than the one I use are old and too slow for most games.Other than that I like to play multi-player with friends so I need to figure outa way to connect with them.I guess my question is that is it possible to emulate a local lan over the internetfor games that only supports lan and not tcp/ip?
EchoNoise Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Yeah, most games that I have played that are "LAN" only can be played over the internet
noctro Posted June 17, 2005 Author Posted June 17, 2005 sent you a pm asking about how to set the LAN via internet up.
