system beeps at bootup ?

i got a question with in the last few days ive started to realise a strange thing on my pc bootup,, im not sure if its the beginning of end or what.. but the system beeps at the beginning of a boot up are usually pretty close together,, mine are separated now by about 30 seconds or so..

does anyone know if this is the end for a component,.. or is it probably nothing,, give me your advice on what i should do,, just ignore it ? or what..

to me it dosnt sound right.. and heres another problem some times on a rare occasion my hd wont bootup...

whats your thoughts..

so i understand that on bootup your pc beeps for few times? one time is ok. if there are more it means u have somt problem. u can find out what it means by reading the mobo's manual.

are you sure because most pcs that ive seen have always beeped 2 times at start up for system check,

im searching through the manual for the mobo its a soy KT400 DRAGON Ultra (Black Edition) ive had it for a few years now but im not finding anything really about this beep situation at boot up,, ive found other boot beep situations but nothing like this.. does any one have any ideals on what this beeping code truely means,

Goolgling that board tells me it has an Award BIOS. Consult the Award beep codes [see here: http://bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm ] - though for this very popular BIOS annoyingly there are a very limited number of diagnostic beeps. Award let manufacturers tailor thier own extended codes.

Searching the Soyo website knowledgebase I came up with the following:

search string: KT400 BIOS BEEP

Q: I got a beep sometimes 2 or 3 beeps when I turn on my Dragon board.

A: Well, this is normal for the Dragon board to behave this way. When the sysem boots up, it will check the onboard devices and each time it detects a device, it will beep to indicate that the component is functioning.

A: I get continue short beeps

To resolve this issue:

1.This is indicating a memory issue. Please reseat your memory modules or change your memory to a different slot or replace your memory. Try use one sitck of ram at this time for troubleshooting purposes

2. If the above does not solve the problem try pull the board out and test it on the bench, inspect the motherboard between the cpu and memory slot area for physical damgage due to inproper cpu fan installation.

There are loads more answers on there to check this out further if you need to, rather than me fill up this post.

thanks m8rk its good to know it is normal with a pheonix award bios, but its still strange how some times it only beeps once, and most imes it beeps twice,, but the real strange part to me was a staggered beep, meaning 1 beep then a long pause then another beep meaning they were delayed a good bit,, but one day ill flash my bios but im not feeling quit up to it at the momemt because ive never flashed a bios before, but my bios is an older rev on that type of mobo

Flashing the BIOS would be a good idea too I think. As long as you follow the instructions carefully you should be ok. Backup just in case .
