tfarre2 Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 A user has Windows Help or Office Help pop up randomly. I want to disable the F1 key to see if it's a malfunctioning key. Any idea how to do this?
bledd Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 put a keylogger in place to see if F1 is being sent to pc..
tfarre2 Posted April 20, 2005 Author Posted April 20, 2005 Don't want to put a keylogger on the machine for security purposes, it's a laptop as well so we can't just switch out the keyboard.
tfarre2 Posted April 20, 2005 Author Posted April 20, 2005 Found a registry key to disable it....[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,02,00,00,00,00,00,3b,00,00,00,00,00
bledd Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 get this a lot of the time in work, take out the keyboard and clean it well, make sure there's no crap under the F1 key or on the contactwhat laptop make/model is it, someone might be able to help you with getting the keyboard out, there's usually some small catches along the edges of them!
tfarre2 Posted April 20, 2005 Author Posted April 20, 2005 The keyboard was just replaced on the laptop a couple of weeks ago so that "shouldn't" be fault, but you never know. We're going to disable the F1 key for a little while and see if that fixes it. Thanks for the help.
