Windows XP help (EXPLORER)

Please help me & my friend

My firend has got a computer and its working very strange (AMD Barton 2600+, 512 ram, r9600XT,...)

When he starts windows XP and runs explorer he must wait 5 minutes for anything to show up..... while he waits a flashlight goes over explorer like if it's looking for something....

After 5 min it works.

any thoughts?

Run Ad-Aware, Spybot, CCleaner and anti-virus.

try reinstalling, or reformatting!
