Hi

Not sure if I am at the right place....sorry if I am not.

I wanted to know what would be the consequences of using Sysprep 1.0 (the one that comes with Winxp SP1) to use with Windows SP2 machines?

The reason is: I have having some weird bug with Sysprep 2.0 (SP2) and Windows XP SP2 machine but it works great when I sysprep my SP2 machines with Sysprep 1.0

Thanks for any help

well, you could do it and see what works.

However, I'd assume that people smarter than me and you have studied the subject, and made sysprep 2 for a reason.

What is your problem with sysprep 2?

You should always use the version of Sysprep that is released with the Service Pack or version of Windows you are using. That is the reason they are released, and that is the version that is tested with it.

I am having some problem with IBM laptop's T41, T42.

With Sysprep 1.0 (For windows XP SP1) I had one image for those 2 laptop model but if does not work with sysprep 2.0. (because, we are now using Windows XP SP2)

When I dump my image, (from T42 to T41) the laptop just don't boot.

But it works great with Sysprep 1.0....weird

John,

It sounds like our companies shop at the same store!!! I posted a reply to your questions about the SATA drive on the M50. Regarding this issue. I have not had a problem using Sysprep 2.0 with SP2. Perhaps its your .inf. Try using a generic sysprep.inf file with Sysprep 2.0. See if this works.

This will tell you for sure whether its sysprep or you.
