I've recently tried to add a second monitor to my system, but 3 are showing up.

Running windows 2000 with a radeon 9250

Any ideas how to get rid?

Both are CRT, one is connected via a DVI-VGA adaptor.

So Windows detects 3 monitors instead of 2?

Exactly.

It would be something I could live with, but it seems to be messing up ATI's dual monitor software and stopping me being able to run each monitor at a different res/refresh rate.

Any ideas?

if you disconnect one, how many are detected by windows?

(first try disconnecting only one, then only the other one..)

Just one, no matter which is connected to the VGA port...

I've also tried swapping primary and secondary around and it still detects 3

I checked windows update and everything seems to be upto date...

Anyone?

I think this is a problem that's unique in its kind. A format+reinstall can do wonders here I think.

If you unistall the monitor drivers, and the video drivers and give her a reboot are you still in the same situation?

if recall correctly its something 2 do with tvout and not actually a bug..if u had 1 monitor on card their be 2 montors listed in device manager and if 2 monitors connected there be 3 listed in device manager.....correct me if i is wrong
