firefoxthebomb Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I have some dell servers and they have raid 5 on them, I did a ghost image with ghostcast server edition 8.0.0.984 and was able to restore to a raid drive just fine.
bledd Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 so say one HD gets corrupt, I can use a DVD image of my current raid setup, boot from that back onto a new working raid ?
bledd Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 thanks albator, anyone know if norton ghost can do this?>
DiGGiTY Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I've done .this many, many times. In fact, I had one client that actually Ghosted several of their servers every single day. You can either Ghost the partition, or Ghost the disk.Of course, Ghost could care less that its RAID 5--it sees your drive array as one disk. You don't have to worry about restoring to one drive, or the other. Now, as far as fault tolerance goes, you would be better off having a spare drive to replace a failed one than relying on Ghost.
