Heya! Nice bootskin. I too am an OS-tan fan, and made two:

Thing is, they're the right format, and are only using 16 colors, but when the comp boots...well, it just looks awful. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong! :blushing:

xp uses his own palette for ntoskrnl, that's probably why they look weird once you use them (reduce the colors to 16 won't help if you're not using that exact palette).

Is there nothing the Japanese can't animate?

I like "The Major vs. OS Girls"... Thats what I call working your OS!

~^_^~'' At least the artwork in it was good!
Here is the correct pallette for the windows boot screen.I have used this only on W2K.

Correct Color Pallete For Boot Screen This must be imported to the image editor you are using.

Using this pallette makes my screens look like butt. ;_;. (Admittedly, that means they look like they do when the system boots up, but still!)

Hey...I loaded the pallette, but it's still being wonky. Like, the boot screen first posted in this thread won't even work right. I'm so confused!! ;_;!!

I'm using BootSkin, if that makes a difference.

Well, my original post was regarding the CHARACTERS, not the boot screen!!! The japanese have even made characters to represent Firefox, Thunderbird, Opera and other softwares.

Search in Wikipedia and google and you will find most of them.

Even so, it is nice to know that you can also customize the Windows boot & shutdown screens. Has anyone done it for Windows 2003? Longhorn/Vista?
