gui_m
Really long ago i password protected a folder to prevent other ppl from accessing it. The thing is, i think i used TweakXP's folder protection utility, but when i try to unlock it, it says 'folder unlocked' however i still can not open the folder (windows gives me an access denied error message). Now i'm not sure if it was tweak XP that i used, but i do know the password i would've used to protect a folder...Is there anyway of recovering the files in that folder? there are some very important documents that i need to access pretty urgently. Thanks
KAndle
What options do you get when you right-click? How about when you select properties after right-clicking?
IcemanND
Try this: (originally posted here Nov. 2003, man I've been here too long.)If you haven't already done it turn off "Use Simple file sharing"To do this open my computer, select tools menu, folder options. All the way at the bottom of the list on the Views tab under advanced settings is a check box to "Use simple file sharing (Recommended)" remove the checkmark and click OK to close the Folder Options window. Now right click on the drive/folder with the problem. (If you select the drive you can reset permissions for all files/folders contain on it and start over.)Select Properties and then select the Security Tab.Click the Advanced button.Select the Owner tab.Select your preferred user name or group, and place a check in the box for "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects"Click OK and wait it takes about 5-10 minutes dependingupon the size of your drive and how much stuff you have on it.If it comes up with a security warning click yes to replace permissions.
