ironman2003 Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Greetings!Long time reader of the site and finally got to posting. I did search, but didn't see anything here in the forums...Please bear with me if this is a repeat. I recently purchased a new 17" LCD TFT monitor and wanted to know if you can damage the monitor's back lights too much if you allow the pc to power the screen off when it goes into standby and then goes back on when we are ready to use it?Also, does anyone know if lowering the brightness/contrast levels down for the back lights to illuminate the screen will help extend the lifetime of the lamps? Any help is much much appreciated! B)
puntoMX Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 The backlight will not live a longer if you bring contrast or brightness down. Turning on and off the screen is an other story but still I would not worry about it, it will last a long time and backlights are not that expensive .
ironman2003 Posted March 11, 2005 Author Posted March 11, 2005 OK thanks!I didn't think that the brightness/contrast would be an issue, but since after just 1 hour of play on the new screen, I can honestly never go back to a regular monitor again. And of course with my budget, this was a one time treat to get such a "critter".
puntoMX Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 I see them for like 225 US$ in the USA. Here in Mexico they are like 450 US$ so soon I´ll be going to do some chopping in Texas (gona get my self 10 of them or so )
