Crash&Burn Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 I notice a number of people dualboot w/ Either Xp/2K/or possibly Linux alongside 98, I would imagine those of you with monster drives haven't broken all the partitions into 32GB ones, what did you do then?Just use NTFS or linux-FS on larger partitions and not let 98 read/write to those drives?
randiroo76073 Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Crash&Burn,32gb??? I'm not dual booted & I have a 38gb partition on 98se for storage & backup w/ no probs on read/write
Crash&Burn Posted March 11, 2005 Author Posted March 11, 2005 *Chuckle* Thanks. I researched it here more, found that link for http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/file/part.htm Of course I never knew of this "limit" til last year or so when I got my 80gig HD and the sales rep "advised" me not to partition the drive larger than 32GbSince then I've been under that impression Gah.
azagahl Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 I have a 100 GB partition in 98 SE. I also use 1 GB of RAM (plus 1 GB swap). Some tools show strange numbers when you have > 128 GB, but they basically work. I was using a 200 GB partition for a while.
soldier1st Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 the max 98 se can see is up to 137GB but with the sp that limit is raised i believe.
randiroo76073 Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 Ya, the old salesperson gotcha been there myself I, personally, never needed that big a partition azgahl so I'll take your word for it[unlike another topic we know]
