jnmturner Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 After a problem on a PC, a friend (yes, a friend) did a clean install of XP Home Edition. However he now cannot use his printer, modem, speakers etc as the new (XP) system will not recognise any of these items. I manually installed the printer driver for him and, while the system recognised this and has the printer set to default, it will not print to it. Service Pack 2 has not been installed yet. Any ideas??? It is a SOLTEK system.
boooggy Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 first of all u have to download the latest drivers for the peripherals that don't work.then install each driver manually.ooops i got other ideea slipstream sp2 into xp cd and make a clean install maybe it will recognize after install.
jnmturner Posted March 9, 2005 Author Posted March 9, 2005 No, it will not print a test page. In the past I have not seen a situation where XP will not recognise Peripherals. The biggest problem my friend is having is no Internet access as the PC will not recognise his modem (Internal).
KAndle Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 You may need to download XP drivers for your system board. The sound and everything is built-in to the computer or are they add-ins?
KAndle Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Run this commandsysteminfo > c:\sysinfo.txtBroswe to the file and look that over maybe post the pci device info section...
