FoxDemon Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 I tried my XPCD in vm and after it formated, when it is coping files it says that it can not copy 'setup.exe'. Right now I am looking into it but I would like any help (maybe this happened to somebody else before?) would be apreciated.
angadsingh007 Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Well, for an unattended setup, u dont need a setup.exe..So.... either get a copy of setup.exe from ur windows original cd (hope u have one)ORremove all instances of setup.exe from DOSNET.INF or TXTSETUP.SIF...
FoxDemon Posted February 25, 2005 Author Posted February 25, 2005 Thanks, Im trying the first option first. You said that unattended setup doesnt need stup.exe? Then how come when I skipped it, it messed up my installations?
angadsingh007 Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Thanks, Im trying the first option first. You said that unattended setup doesnt need stup.exe? Then how come when I skipped it, it messed up my installations?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Usually u dont have any errors in copying files while setup and if u do, then there oughta be errors in ur installation ...and setup.exe is run from windows ... in case u want to do a manual installation or an upgrade...even from windows u use winn32.exe located in i386 folder... so practically dont need setup.exebut wht the heck ... copy it to ur cd
Alanoll Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 setup.exe is not reference in txtsetup.sif last I saw...is it one of your setup files in your $OEM$ directory?
IcemanND Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 I would go with Alanoll's idea. I delete the windows Setup.exe from all of my cd's because I never use it and have had no issues. If you are watching while it is copying files, has the progress bar gone away at the point thatthis error comes up? If so then it has gotten to the pont where it is copying you $oem$ file structure.
FoxDemon Posted February 26, 2005 Author Posted February 26, 2005 setup.exe is not reference in txtsetup.sif last I saw...is it one of your setup files in your $OEM$ directory?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>no, setup.exe or txtsetup.sif is not in my $OEM$ directory
Alanoll Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 it's a file you added, unless you got the name wrong.and txtsetup.sif is in I386.
Alanoll Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 alright, you're not understanding what we're saying.Windows Setup HAS NO SETUP.EXE that it copies over during installation. So either you reported the WRONG file that has the error, OR it's a problem with one of the files you use in $OEM$ in either case, YOU NEED TO FIND OUT WHICH IT IS
IcemanND Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 no, setup.exe or txtsetup.sif is not in my $OEM$ directoryit my be in a sub-folder of $oem$
angadsingh007 Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 This has gotta be in the $OEM$ folder...bcoz, right, there are no references to it in TXTSETUP.SIF, or DOSNET.INFSo, proved that setup does'nt need it at all..Search for it in ur cmdlines.txt, winnt.sif, or other batch u use in $OEM$...And also tell us when this error is appearingjust for a reference, the setup timeline:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=39904&hl=
