DigeratiPrime Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 you can always turn off the computer by unplugging it most computers also power off if you hold down on the power key for 8 seconds.try rebooting in Safe Mode (F8 Key), run your virus checks and spyware checks. Then shutdown.
D.Celt Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 right click my computer > properties > advanced > startup & recovery settings > uncheck "automatically restart"A system failure somewhere has caused it, you may be able to find out what in the event viewer.
firefoxthebomb Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 you could create a shortcut on your desktop using this.C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 01and then double click on it to see if it shuts down.
Ghostrider Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Are you using a M/Board with a SIS chipset. i have come across some boards that will not shut off if power management is enabled in the bios. turn it off and the computer should power off
red_house Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Is it being woken by modem activity? If so, disable "Wake on Lan Activity" in the bios.
