February 24, 200521 yr I am getting really wound up with this one. I can't keep my pc shut down it will only restart. I have checked for viruses and adaware shut my services down one by one and the only thing I removed that let it shut down was the dhcp client. But obviousley when I did that I couldn't get onto the internet.HELP!!!!
February 24, 200521 yr you can always turn off the computer by unplugging it most computers also power off if you hold down on the power key for 8 seconds.try rebooting in Safe Mode (F8 Key), run your virus checks and spyware checks. Then shutdown.
February 24, 200521 yr right click my computer > properties > advanced > startup & recovery settings > uncheck "automatically restart"A system failure somewhere has caused it, you may be able to find out what in the event viewer.
February 24, 200521 yr you could create a shortcut on your desktop using this.C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 01and then double click on it to see if it shuts down.
February 25, 200521 yr Are you using a M/Board with a SIS chipset. i have come across some boards that will not shut off if power management is enabled in the bios. turn it off and the computer should power off
