wusfreaks Posted March 7, 2005 Author Posted March 7, 2005 Something happened...Guys I took a look into my IIS Log Files then I saw that my client has tried to connect to my server. However, nothing happens in my WUS Manager, any client error or something. Could anybody try to explain what happened based on the log below?2005-03-07 11:33:51 IP Client - IP Server 80 HEAD /clientwebservice/WusServerVersion.xml 0503071136 404 Industry+Update+Control2005-03-07 11:33:51 IP Client - IP Server 80 GET /clientwebservice/WusServerVersion.xml 0503071136 404 Industry+Update+Control2005-03-07 11:33:51 IP Client - IP Server 80 HEAD /iuident.cab 0503071136 200 Industry+Update+Control2005-03-07 11:33:51 IP Client - IP Server 80 GET /iuident.cab 0503071136 200 Industry+Update+Control2005-03-07 11:33:51 IP Client - IP Server 80 HEAD /iuident.cab 0503071136 200 Industry+Update+Control2005-03-07 11:33:52 IP Client - IP Server 80 POST /autoupdate/getmanifest.asp |-|0|404_Object_Not_Found 404 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+Win32;+WinHttp.WinHttpRequest.5)2005-03-07 11:33:52 IP Client - IP Server 80 GET /wutrack.bin V=2&U=d2fdb7db1a4b844a85fa4e5ae5ba8dea&C=au&A=d&I=&D=&P=5.1.a28.2.100.1.0&L=pt-BR&S=f&E=80190194&M=&X=050307113650671 200 Industry+Update+Control
Sparky1 Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 can you modify the host file of the client system to point to the ip of your server? or would that not work?
BeenThereB4 Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 You might try the script that I posted here: WUS ScriptNote that it has to be edited to point to your server --- look for the note in the script.
wusfreaks Posted March 9, 2005 Author Posted March 9, 2005 This is my WindowsUpdate.log file in my client attached. Please somebody tell me if it worked out. If yes, why anything happens? My server hasn´t any computer client in the WUS Manager yet.Take a look guys, I really need to make it work.logClient.txt
compuboy Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Hey Guys,The first time that I installed the WUS System it didnt work. It turns out that the reason is bec it installed it on port (8350) (or something like that) Most ports cant be accessed by other computers therefore the WUS system should be installed on port 80. during the installation there is an option to change that. it would show your address for example http://192.168.1.15:8350. What it should be is http://192.168.1.15:80, the number after the collon specifies the port. To uninstall it just use the control panel Add/remove option. Good Luck!! Michael.
wusfreaks Posted March 11, 2005 Author Posted March 11, 2005 Well, finally something happened. We´ve reinstalled the server on the port 8530 and the XP clients came to our WUS manager screen. But things aren´t good enough, we´ve configured 6 (six) XP clients pointing the WUS server but I don´t know why only appears 4 (four) of them in WUS manager in the same time. They´re kind of alternating themselves into the WUS. All the six clients are working properly but there are only 4 clients in the WUS manager, got it?That´s too weird cause there isn´t a logic reason to behave like that, I hope you guys can give some answear.Thanx you all
compuboy Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 If the client computer is running Windows XP SP1 then check the control panel for automatic updates if it doesnt exist got to -start -all programs -windows update, it will ask you to install the updated windows update program, without that the WUS server wont be able to recognize the client computer!!
MadGutts Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I have 2 servers, one running SUS still which is fine and all the client can see and use it, and the other running WUS.The domain with WUS i have downloaded the WUS policy...MS Admin Policyfor more info try:SUSserver.comhope this helps....
