FuzzBall Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 I would not use those power supplies that come with those cheap cases.I've seen several go up in smoke(lit.), and even fry several other componets on the motherboard.Since your using a PIII system though, you should be allright. If you ever upgrade to a P4 or an AMD XP... consider buying a new power supply.
puntoMX Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 I can assembly nearly everything else, and screw everything down, but i just hate wiring up everything<{POST_SNAPBACK}>It can’t go wrong, only the connector for some floppy drives can fit both positions when you puss hard, other then that, it should be self leading .What OS are you going to run? If you have a XP license I would use XP, (although I would use 256MB minimal, 192MB will also run but you have to free up some resources like disabling THEMES and INDEX services).
puntoMX Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Then there is no THEME service, that’s good (my XP also looks like 2000 ). Disable INDEX service, that would give you an extra boost...Did you ever look at nLite?
shof515 Posted February 27, 2005 Author Posted February 27, 2005 Not really....what does that do.....Alll i really care about is just something that willl:play music, broswe the web, chat, and run programs like dreamweaver, photoshop
puntoMX Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Dreamweaver, photoshop... Then buy an extra 256MB. How about your Harddisk Drive? how fast is that one?
shof515 Posted February 27, 2005 Author Posted February 27, 2005 its a 40gb hard drive at 7200rpmand in the computer, they will be 256mb total ram
puntoMX Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Good enough, a new 80GB and bigger drive will give some extra boost, lets say 30% or more when it´s a RAM intensive program.Do you use Photoshop with large files? Like letter size photos on 200dpi?
shof515 Posted February 27, 2005 Author Posted February 27, 2005 On the computer they will be 256mb total ram.....and i dont use large files in photoshop
puntoMX Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Then your safe.I use Photoshop with large 1GB images for profesional printing, even 2GB of RAM isn´t enough then .
shof515 Posted February 27, 2005 Author Posted February 27, 2005 IF i did wanna use any large file, which i normally dont work on that much,i will use my current computer which has 512mb of ram
