lansing Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 i'm working on my multi boot dvd right now, and i'm up to the last part where to test the image with virtual pc, after i successfully install my xp to virtual pc, how can i connect to the internet to get the windows update.the guide i read from said that if i enable internet connection on the virtual pc, it will screw up the physical pcbut i really need to find out what updates i need to make the dvd, what should i do?
Alanoll Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 if there is an option in the network settings of the virtual pc (in VirtualPC not actually in the VM'd machine) set it to either A. Bridged Network (it will act like another computer on the network, like it had it's own hardware so it'll get it's own IP address as well)B. NAT (be like having the a virtual router between the host and virtual pc)I personally use Bridged Networking at home, and NAT at school (only allowed one system on the network, and the Virtual machine counts as a system when using Bridged networking)
prathapml Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 if there is an option in the network settings of the virtual pc (in VirtualPC not actually in the VM'd machine) .....<{POST_SNAPBACK}>There isn't.There's got to be a reason someone here is crying hoarse that VPC is a toy used mostly by fascinated n00bs. Sooner or later they move on to VMware. And that is the only solution even now.
Incroyable HULK Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I agree. VMware can save you a lot of time compared to Virtual PC
