Polarman
Is there anyone here who has tried or is still using StarOffice 7?Before i make a purchase (YES! I BUY MY SOFTWARE), I'd like to know your personal opinion of this software. I do not want to know opinions for any previous version:Is it a viable option for MS Office?Does it take more space/resources than MS Office?Ease of use?Compatibility between major brands?Did it fulfill your expectations? The cost of StarOffice 7 (75$) is nothing compared to MS Office 2003(400$). I know of the free OpenOffice but i'm more interested in StarOffice 7. I've read some good things about it in big reviewing sites. That's why i need a more personal approach. Here's their website.http://www.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/index.xml
DigeratiPrime
um have you tried OpenOffice? http://www.openoffice.org/[edit] ok i didnt see that.I tried StarOffice 7, its almost identical to 1.1.4 OOo IMO. Same resource use. Different Icons. That would be my assessment. Go try the OOo 2.0 snapshot builds.http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html
George27
I know somebody that uses Star 7, there isn't much difference between open office as said before the only thing I did 't like about it is that there is separate composer type editor for html and you can't open html in the word possessor. It's more than enough for most people. It's a bit plain if your used to the bloat of MS office.
Looneyboy784
I love Star office 7. has most of the features of ms office and for almost anyone it is just as good. But i can only rcomend it to students or teaches as it is free tho them (me) otherwise go with openoffice.org 2.0 snapshot builds.
