2000 Pro Client can't connect to DHCP

Featured Replies

Hai,

I want to connect my laptop from the office at my local network.

I don't have to connect to workgroups or domains, i just want to retreive a ipadres from my dhcp router.

I can't get it to work.

If i connect my laptop to the network at the office it get's an IP without any problems.

Our Operator doesn't understand it and says that my dhcp server doesn't function.

But al my other (XP) machine's works well and i've got enough room left on my leasetable,

Please Help :}

Are connecting with a cable or wireless?

If it's with a cat5 cable, is the cable good?

If wireless, I have no idea.

What happens if yo assign a static IP?

It's all cabled, yes it's Cat5 and tested.

Plugged on other PC's works well

Tried Static ip also, no result.

I can only ping to myself (127.0.0.1 and the self assigned IP)

NIC?

Do you mean network adapter?

It does function at the office so why doesn't it function at home?

Try configuring alternative configuration and then try to connect ...

Doesn't sort it out eather,

I did even delete and re-install my NIC.

same result.

Other sugestions

Well since you've tried all options, the only thing left to try is changing the NIC ..

  • Author

Is no option,

It's a laptop with NIC onboard.

But why does it work at the office without any problems, and doesn't function at all at home?

Oh sture it's an option :) just get for the sake of the test a PCMCI NIC and try again ...

whenever the ordinary troubbleshooting ends cuz there are no more logic options to try.... upgrade the firmware / BIOS of the devices and try again... could be some wiered incompatible issue...
