ahh.... Content Managament for your site?

Yeah, basically I'm asking; What vbBullitien is to Message Boards, _________ is to Web Sites? ;)

http://plone.org/ is an actual demonstration of this.

Will you have a webhost or will this be locally hosted on your machine?

I'm thinking of doing the initial hosting locally, whether linux or windows.

I would say Mambo. Excuse me while I plug e-Max Hosting here... If you sign up for an account with them it's built into the cpanel and you can easily have it up and going in minutes.

This is what it looks like when you first install it... http://www.everythingit.org/eit/ (my website... for demo purpose)

It depends on what your site is going to be.

If its just a general site, your web-page creating app itself (Frontpage,DreamWeaver,GoLive) can manage it.

Portal? check out VirtuaNews (used by msfn as well) or Invision Portal

Blog? check out WordPress (pay) or Blog:CMS (free)

...... and a million more categories ;)

In every case, remember that it requires some effort to understand how it works. I've just seen far too many people give up saying its too difficult. If you have the desire to make your site good, you will easily learn how to use your CMS.

Do post back here on what you finally chose!
