How can you NOT require CTRL-ALT-DEL logging in?

Featured Replies

ANOTHER thing I have a question about haha.

Is there a way to make it so that when doing an unattended install can I use a registry tweak that with automatically get rid of the CTRL-ALT-DEL required to log in to a windows domain. I know that you can go into User Accounts and then unselect require CTRL-ALT-DELETE to log in, but I wanted it to get rid of this automatically with a registry file or something for in an unattended install of win xp.

PEACE and THANKS

I FOUND IT!

Here is what you need to disable ctrl-alt-delete at login on classic login

;Disable CTRL-ALT-DELETE to login
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"DisableCAD"=dword:00000001

manually i know how

click run

type in gpedit.msc

under computer configuration click windows settings

then security settings

then local policies

then security options

then duble clik interactive logon: do not require ctrl+alt+del

then select disable

then okay

then just exit the window

1. Start / Run / "control userpasswords2" - no quotes

2. Uncheck User must enter a user name and password to use this computer

;Disable CTRL-ALT-DELETE to login
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"DisableCAD"=dword:00000001

ABSOLUTELY NO NEED FOR YOUR SECOND TOPIC!

Do it again, and you will be warning.

Regsitry tweak does not work for unattended. Because its locked at zero by the group policy editor. Even if you import the registy file after installing win 2k3 it still will have no effect until you disabelt the group policy which pretty much sucks.

Well hoping someone found a way to get it to work with unattaned?

cya,

Will

Ok I figured it out. :)

You have to import both of these:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"DisableCAD"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system]
"DisableCAD"=dword:00000001
