charlo Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 All the files and folders I put in i386\$OEM$\$1\ failed to copy over during install.I have ensured that I OemPreinstall=Yes.This is how I placed the files & folders (including the winnt.sif & my batch file - mbithi.cmd) in my CDI386\$OEM$\$1\InstallI386\$OEM$\$ProgsI386\$OEM$\$1\Install\mbithi.cmdI386\winnt.sifMy unattended process went on well and Winxp professional was installed and tweaked according to the settings in winnt.sif. That tells me the winnt.sif file was processed. I used Nlite to produce it and manually edited the option - OemPreinstall and set it to "Yes". Here is my winnt.sif:--- begin winnt.sif---;; Generated by nLite 0.99.4 beta 2;[Data] MsDosInitiated =0 UnattendedInstall =Yes[unattended] UnattendMode = FullUnattended UnattendSwitch =Yes OemPreinstall=Yes OemSkipEula = Yes FileSystem = * WaitForReboot = No TargetPath = "\Windows" DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore NonDriverSigningPolicy = Ignore Hibernation = No[systemFileProtection] SFCQuota = 0[GuiUnattended] EncryptedAdminPassword = No AdminPassword = "password" AutoLogon = Yes TimeZone = 155 OEMSkipRegional = 1 OemSkipWelcome = 1[shell] DefaultThemesOff = Yes DefaultStartPanelOff = Yes[userData] ProductKey = "XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXXX" ComputerName = "BGT" FullName = "ONESMO" OrgName = "ORGANIZEDCONFUSION"[RegionalSettings] Language = 0409[identification] JoinWorkgroup = "WORKGROUP"[GuiRunOnce] c:\install\mbithi.cmd--- end winnt.sif---Any help is highly appreciated!Charlowinnt.sif
totoymola Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Hmm... This is your problem.386\$OEM$\$1\InstallI386\$OEM$\$ProgsI386\$OEM$\$1\Install\mbithi.cmdYour $OEM$ folder should be at the root of your CD/DVD, the same level as the I386.
Martin Zugec Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 2totoymola: Nope... I dont know how on cd, but in network unattended installation it has to be inside i386 folder
totoymola Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 I don't know about network install. But I always place my $OEM$ at the root of my DVD.And I think charlo is not making a network unattended installation.
Martin Zugec Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 And it work? Strange, I though it is always inside i386... So maybe this will really solve charlo´s problem...Anyway thank for the information, maybe if I will need to make unattended cd I will find this useful
totoymola Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 And it work? But of course! Thanks for the info about network install too. I didn't know that.
Bâshrat the Sneaky Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 2totoymola: Nope... I dont know how on cd, but in network unattended installation it has to be inside i386 folderThis is indeed one of the differences between a network installation and a regular installation from CD/DVD.

charlo Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 Thanks totoymola for pointing out the error i made in my dir structureactually, $I386$ is supposed to be at the root. I'm making an installationCD. I have just confirmed at http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/oemfolders.htmIts kinda strange i overlooked that and yet I was refering to it over and over again during my CD preparation.Anyways thanks guyzx - soulin, Bâshrat the Sneaky, Astalavista for your inputI appreciate that alot.Am going to correct my error and will post the outcome.
