teentitans14 Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 I've tryed BootIt NG to have 2 operating systems on 1 harddrive(Win ME/Win XP). It seems to work pretty good. Any other programs that are better for Dual booting than BootIt?
firefoxthebomb Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 have you tried partition magic, I think it comes with boot magic.
teentitans14 Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 No, I haven't tryed that one. Is it pretty simple to use?
jaclaz Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 The BEST free one is XOSL:http://www.ranish.com/part/xosl.htm(graphical)You might want/need also:Ranish's Partition Manager:http://www.ranish.com/part/BOOTPART:http://www.winimage.com/bootpart.htmandWindows Boot.ini C.U.http://www.dx21.com/SOFTWARE/Dx21/ViewItem...I=2&SI=2&OID=14or editbini (from the same people who made BootIt NG):http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/utilities.htmlPlease note that the simplest way to dual boot XP and ME (just read it as NT and 98) is to use the XP default boot manager and BOOTPART. (this way nothing is messed up on the Hard Disk). If you want to add a stunning beautiful graphical screen and password protect booting, add XOSL.jaclaz
Martin Zugec Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 XOSL was great, but the development stopped Personally I use boot.ini ))
jaclaz Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 XOSL was great, but the development stoppedYep, but if it works, doing well what it is supposed to do, what is the need to develop?Personally I use boot.iniYep, it is what i mentioned as "the simplest way"jaclaz
teentitans14 Posted January 1, 2005 Author Posted January 1, 2005 The reason I like BootIt NG is because it alows you to resize partitions without data loss. And it also has it's own fdisk and format. Thanks for the replies. I'll give some of the other programs a try.
prathapml Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 PartitionMagic and Acronis also have the features BootIT-NG has - in fact, more features than BOOTIT.
teentitans14 Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 Which is the easiest to install and use?
prathapml Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Acronis is easiest to use and has max features. (the fact that both partitionmagic and disk-director need a key to install, makes me say they are not very easy to install)
teentitans14 Posted January 5, 2005 Author Posted January 5, 2005 Exactly which Acronis program are you referring to?
