add MTU setting to all network adapters

Recommended Posts

I need to accomplish this:

(A) action: Install Windows XP SP1.

® result: Unable to save large files to MAC Samba Server.

© cause: TCP/IP's Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) is not being negotiated correctly.

® resolution: Configured the MTU in the registry to 1460 (or 1500) in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\<ID for Adapter>

MTU - REG_DWORD - 1460 (or 1500) (dec)

Is there any registry setting that will add the MTU key to every adapter on the system? The NIC cards vary over multiple computers...

thanks Whampoom, that looks like a good option that would just require me to do a little work at the end does anyone know if it would be possible to automate TCP Optimizer or knows what set of commands it uses to do what it does so I wouldn't have to use a GUI? thanks!
