I have already installed it successfully twice before but on this occasion it said it could not find APPS.INF in the INF directory. I searched and APPS.INF was in fact there.And also I don't know if there is any connection but I've lately been getting a lot of messages like 'XXX caused a fault in COMMCTRL.DLL'

Are succesful and unsuccesful systems different?However, COMMCTRL.DLL error can occur if the COMMCTRL.DLL file is missing or damaged. Try to replace it with original (more info).
