***** SBC YAHOO! Dial / Blaster virus / Panda Anti

Featured Replies

I installed SBC YAHOO! Dial

for my dial-up internet connection.

When I connect to the internet

I get and error that turns the computer off in 60 sec.!!!

SBC Tech. support says it is a Blaster virus.

I am using Panda Anti-Virus software.

How do I fix this problem?

I have HP Brio BA410 computer system with

Windows XP Pro., 866MHz Pentium III,

40GB drive and 640MB or ram.

Thank You

The shutdown thing look like the image attached to this post?

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=32265

if so, that is the lasser worm. download Spybot and Adware. update those and scan your computer. also.. the lasser worm exploit can be fixed by going to Windows Update. and remeber to keep your adware, spybot, and Panda anti-virus updated as well.

also.. if this box comes up again.. quickly go to Start -> Run and type "Shutdown -a" without the [""]'s that will abort the shutdown.

You could also try running virus specific removal tools like Stinger from McAfee and the Sasser worm removal tool from Symantec.

ya, u need a good firewall & antivirus scanner , download service pack 2 to patch the probkem :) or download the specific patches for sasser & blaster & microsoft

try stinger from mcafee as it got rid of the virus for me

also if you're scanning for viruses and the message comes up (i think) if you go

start > run and type in "shutdown -S"(or something like that) it will go away for now

start > run and type in "shutdown -S"(or something like that) it will go away for now

shutdown -a ;)

as for the original poster.. i wonder if he got it fixed.... cause he hasn't posted anything since...
